Missing in America (2005) PDF Print E-mail

I had a chance to see this yesterday and I have to say it was a great movie. I can’t pretend to know what war vets feel and go through but it can’t be easy, I always have had a soft spot for them and after seeing this even more so.

Story:

Danny Glover plays Jake, a reclusive Vietnam vet living in the woods of Montana and avoiding human contact until one day an old buddy, dying of cancer  leaves his young half-Vietnamese daughter for Jake to care for while he undergoes “treatment” which he does not have realistic hopes of surviving.

The good:

Excellent acting and beautiful scenery on top of a story that is relevant without obviously going out of its way to be.

The bad:

Not necessarily my style of film, I tend to avoid tear-jerkers like the plague. Still far from a chick flick, so I don’t have to chastise myself for liking it so much.

Conclusion:

Well worth your time.
